Mercedes-Benz 230 SL The 190 SL, which had enjoyed wide acclaim for several years, was getting old, and the Stuttgart-based company decided to start designing a new spyder (improperly called a roadster). The project was born around 1961: three were the demands of Daimler-Benz’s top management to the heads of the various departments involved in […]
Porsche 356 SC The Porsche 356 is an automobile model, both coupe and roadster, produced by Porsche continuously from 1948 to 1966. It can be considered the first “production” model produced by the Stuttgart-based company. In just under two decades, several versions followed one another, with different engines. The name “Carrera” first appeared on precisely […]
VW Beetle 1500 Convertible Its production began by the choice of Adolf Hitler, who in a 1934 speech announced his choice to put a car on the market for everyone, convinced that the automobile should not be a privilege. In those years automobiles, at least in Europe, were not affordable for the average citizen. On […]
Mercedes-Benz 280 SL In 1968 the 250 SL gave way to the 280 SL, which had been on the list since the previous month and was equipped with the new 130,983 fuel-injected engine with displacement raised to 2778 cm³ and maximum power of 170 hp. Once again, absolute performance remained the same, but the new […]
Alfa-Romeo Giulia Spider The ‘evolution of cars in the early 1960s led Alfa Romeo to increase the displacement and performance of the Giulietta Spider. Porsche Carrera Targa 3.0

In 1977 the 911 SC (SuperCarrera) was launched, replacing all other “non-turbo” versions (standard, S and Carrera); it had a displacement of 2994 cm³ and power reduced to 180 hp. Aesthetically, the only changes involved painting the previously chrome-plated details in matte black.
The SC, available in both coupe and Targa versions, was launched at a time when the German company’s management believed that the 911 was an outdated model, destined to be gradually replaced by the Porsche 928, launched that very year and equipped with a new water-cooled V8 engine and transaxle mechanics.
The 928 had good market success, especially in the U.S., but it could never replace the 911 in the hearts of enthusiasts, which always remained the most popular Porsche model. In 1978 the displacement of the 911 Turbo grew from 2994 to 3299 cm³ and power, thanks in part to the adoption of electronic (instead of mechanical) fuel injection, reached 300 hp.
